You don’t have to be an investing expert to manage your retirement portfolio with confidence. With LifeStage Investment Management, it’s easy to automate the investment of your account based on your risk tolerance and other key personal information. LifeStage Investment Management is offered as a convenient option at no additional cost to you.1

If you have a Ministerial Pension Plan (MPP) account, LifeStage Investment Management is required to manage this account balance. For other Wespath-administered retirement accounts, you have the option to self-manage your account or use LifeStage Investment Management to automatically create and adjust your investment portfolio. LifeStage Investment Management manages balances for more than 70% of participants in non-MPP plans.

Why Choose LifeStage Investment Management?

Whether LifeStage Investment Management is right for you depends on your personal preferences, and the amount of time and effort you’re willing to spend on managing your account. If you want help finding the right investment mix and prefer having investment decisions handled for you, LifeStage Investment Management can help simplify the process.

However, LifeStage Investment Management may not be appropriate for everyone. If you want to have more control in managing your investments, or if you have unique financial circumstances, you may prefer a more hands-on approach. In that case, you may want to work with a financial professional who can help manage your retirement plans. Eligible participants in Wespath-administered retirement plans can receive financial planning assistance at no additional charge from EY Financial Planning Services.1, 2

How It Works

When you select LifeStage Investment Management, you’ll be asked to complete a Personal Investment Profile with information about your age, risk tolerance, whether you qualify for Social Security benefits and other factors. You can review and change your Personal Investment Profile at any time by selecting “Accounts > LifeStage Investment Options” from the Retirement details page when logged in to your Benefits Access account.

LifeStage Investment Management allocates your account balances among a selection of Wespath’s investment funds to create a target investment mix based on your Personal Investment Profile. Each quarter, LifeStage Investment Management compares your target mix with your actual mix of investments, which changes due to market fluctuations. If there is a significant difference, the service will automatically buy and sell units in Wespath investment funds to rebalance your current investment mix and future allocations.
