Our Commitment to Values-Based and Sustainable Investing
As a faith-rooted, mission-focused organization, Wespath’s commitment to values-aligned investing is steadfast. We are always exploring ways to better meet the needs of investors and account for sustainably-related financial risks and opportunities.
Wespath’s Positive Social Purpose (PSP) Lending Program helps address the affordable housing crisis in the U.S. while also seeking market-rate returns. Since its launch in 1990, the PSP Lending Program has invested more than $2.1 billion in affordable housing.
Many of the PSP Lending Program’s affordable housing communities provide residents with a built-in support system. For example:
Wespath helped connect mission-aligned capital with A Place For Us, a community designed to support older adults’ well-being, connection and independence. The transit-oriented development combines accessible housing with counseling, health fairs, fitness classes and arts programming, supporting residents’ needs beyond housing alone.
The Broadview Senior Apartments project was developed through collaboration with the Village of Broadview and other community partners. Wespath provided more than $1.9 million through its PSP Lending Program to support 70-unit affordable senior housing community. The property includes units for residents with extremely low incomes and sustainable design features that earned National Green Building Standard Bronze certification.
At Elmer Gardens in Schenectady, investment in senior housing helped create accessible apartments, supportive housing for frail older adults and shared spaces that encourage wellness, activity and intergenerational connection. The project illustrates how investment solutions can advance mission, strengthen communities and expand opportunities for older adults.
