Young Leaders Advisory Board
Wespath to Form Young Leaders Advisory Board
Wespath Benefits and Investments (Wespath) is creating a Young Leaders Advisory Board (Y-LAB) in order to engage, and better serve, young adults dedicated to The United Methodist Church (UMC). We believe by engaging young clergy and lay employees early in their careers, we can empower them to start on a path to secure their financial and personal well-being.
But We Need Help…
To do this, we need to be in better connection with this diverse group—and that is where Y-LAB can help.
Many are not aware that participants can access professional investment advice at no cost through Wespath*, or the variety of ways we promote all dimensions of well-being through our wellness programs. Many in the church have told us they were unaware of the great results we achieve through our sustainable investment strategies, which help us invest in a manner that has a positive financial, environmental and social impact.
Y-LAB will be composed of young leaders within the UMC and can help Wespath extend its reach to engage young clergy and lay employees with services to support them and their mission. Y-LAB members will work with Wespath to identify gaps in connecting with this group, generate ideas that help improve the products and services we offer and help shape how we share information about them.
Who Can Join?
Y-LAB membership will be made up of 10-15 individuals under the age of 35, with each of the five Jurisdictions selecting two members each. Wespath will also choose an additional five members from a pool of candidates recommended by annual conferences to assure diverse representation. Members will serve two- or three-year terms. Y-LAB members will be finalized in summer of 2017.
