Collins Pension Plan for Missionaries (Collins Plan)
A pension plan that provides eligible missionaries serving the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) with a monthly retirement benefit for life. The benefit is based on years of eligible Collins credited service multiplied by the pension rate in effect at retirement.
Missionaries who were at least age 50 and who had completed at least 15 years of service in the Collins Plan before January 1, 2014, will continue to earn credited service in the Collins Plan.
All other eligible missionaries receive monthly UMPIP contributions equal to 12% of average eligible missionary monthly compensation from GBGM. Missionaries may also elect to make personal contributions from their compensation to their UMPIP account. At retirement, UMPIP account balances may be distributed as lump sums or as regular payments.
